Snitches get stitches and the media has no idea what to talk about.

The following video is Jon Oliver ripping into the news coverage of Ed Snowden, the PRISM whistle blower. The video then goes on to rip into a recent viral video of a outraged woman trying to blow the whistle on a restaurant for not giving her a reciept.

Of course he isn't wrong, the coverage of Snowden and his leak are irresponsible at best. From most of those reports viewers have a loose, or non-existent grasp on what is actually happening. The Washington Post  tells everything a reader needs to know about him before going over some of what the leak revealed saying:
"Snowden is the 29-year-old intelligence analyst and computer geek who leaked some of the National Security Agency’s most precious secrets to journalists from The Post and the Guardian. He is now on the lam, having checked out of the Hong Kong hotel where he holed up for several weeks as he orchestrated a worldwide media splash that shows no sign of ending."

The biggest thing to come out of Snowden's leak however is PRISM. An operation enacted by the National Security Agency (NSA) to collect Metadata on suspected threats. This Metadata consists of who, when, how long, and possibly where the communications are passing between. The problem however comes in when there isn't really a defined threat most evidence seems to suggest that the NSA can and does track anyone they please which is seemingly everyone. Also leaked were the names of nine corporations who allegedly acquiesced to requests for their information on their consumers. This list includes  Microsoft, Yahoo!, Google, Facebook, Paltalk, YouTube, AOL, Skype, and Apple.

Beside the frivolous tidbits of gossip and the Ad Hominen attacks on Snowden there are a few opinions that should be observed. The first being the foreign concern over their own citizens' rights to privacy being violated. The second would be Congress's delayed reaction to the news. This could be in part because of
"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said that members of Congress have had plenty of opportunities to learn about surveillance programs prior to the leak through briefings."
as reported by National Public Radio (NPR)
However  members of Congress seemingly have forgotten to tell their constituents about it.

The most important reaction to watch however is the peoples', which is almost non-existent. NPR reports that there have been no phone's ringing of the hook or Capitol Hills stormed by angry protesters
"That means that Snowden's efforts to alert the public to the dangers of such wide surveillance could ultimately backfire, says Aftergood, a critic of the NSA programs."The intelligence community can say we didn't want this to be made public, but it was, and people shrugged, and now we take it as an explicit endorsement," he says. "That would be an ironic outcome.""

However one reaction to the NSA's spying is called Operation Troll the NSA which was a plan to send this message:

Hey! How’s it going? I’m all right.

My job is so shitty I wish I could overthrow my boss. It’s like this oppressive regime where only true believers in his management techniques will stay around. I workmarathon-length hours and he’s made all these changes that have made it the worst architecture firm to work at in Manhattan. Like he moved the office to the Financial District and fired my assistant. She was the only one who knew where theblueprints were! I need access to those blueprints to complete my job! F my life, right? And he keeps trying to start all these new initiatives to boost revenue, but seriously we just need to stick to what we do best. There’s only one true profitcenter. I seriously feel ready to go on strike at any second.
I just read this article about how these free radical particles can cause the downfallof good health and accelerate aging. These could actually cause death to millions of Americans. If these particles are flying around undetected everywhere, does that mean we’re all radicalized?
Have you seen the second season of Breaking Bad? I just finished it. I couldn’t believe that episode where they poison the guy with ricin! That was the bomb! I won’t say any more because I don’t want to reveal the earth-shattering events to come.
Oh! So I’ve been planning a big trip for the summer. I’m thinking of visiting all of the most famous suspension bridges in the United States. So probably like the Golden Gate Bridge, The Brooklyn Bridge, and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. I’m gonna bring my younger brother and I know he’ll want to go to bars, so I’m thinking of getting him a fake drivers license, but I hope that doesn’t blow up in my face.
Okay, I gotta run! I’m late for flight school. I missed the last class where we learn how to land, so I really can’t miss another one. Talk to you later!
